One of the tasty pancakes recipes with buttermilk and vanilla.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups (350ml) buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons (50g) melted butter
- 2 teaspoons (10ml) Vanilla
- 1 cup (125g) white flour
- 3 tablespoon (40g) sugar
- ½ teaspoons (3g) baking soda
- ½ teaspoons (2g) baking powder
- ½ teaspoon (4g) salt
To make the buttermilk pancakes; you need to first mix all the dry ingredients, such as flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Use a wire whisk to mix the ingredients well so that no lumps remain. After you have mixed the dry ingredients, you have to blend together the liquid ingredients, such as buttermilk, egg, vanilla and melted butter in another bowl. Add half the amount of dry ingredient into the bowl containing the liquid ingredients. Keep whisking the batter while adding the dry ingredients. When the batter blends in well, add the remaining dry ingredients. Continue whisking the batter till it is quite thick and smooth. The batter should be such that it pours easily onto a frying pan.
Next heat a non-stick frying pan. When the frying pan is ready, add a few drops of oil and wipe it around with a paper towel. Pour ¼ cup of the batter onto the pan. Care needs to be taken that the frying pan is not too hot as big bubbles can form in the pancakes, if the heat is too high. The pancakes have to be cooked slowly, around 90-120 seconds on each side. The pancake must be cooked until small bubbles form at the top of the pancake and it is brown from below and dry around the edges. When this happens, flip and cook on the other side till brown in color. This buttermilk pancakes recipe is for 8 servings.
